The most popular excursion site in Zagreb area. The  tourist tradition  of a small medieval town with its old city center mostly in baroque style dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. All  the buildings on the main square, which was designed in 1925, are protected monuments of culture. In the 13th century the fortress was built on the Tepec hill, above the town, and even today the most beautiful city park and walking area is there. Samobor hills all around gives a special charm to the town. That is where Croatian hiking first started, because the trip to Plešivica and Oštrec hill in 1875 is considered to be the first organized hiking excursion.

Poets and artists wrote about the city, they fell in love with it, and they always come back here because nobody discovered it completely.

The city is also well known for its great gastronomy. ''Kremšnita'' cake is definitly the symbol of Samobor. It is blasphemy  to  visit Samobor and not to taste  this cake. The story about this cake beginns between two world wars, when it was brought to this area by a famous chef, Đuro Lukačić, who worked in Wienna and Budapest. He chose one of the best recipes, made some changes and presenteded it to the citizens of Samobor. The era of foam cakes began then. Many people were ready to wait for ''kremšnita'' as long it was necessary, and people queued all over the square. That is why this cake is always served warm, because there were so many orders that there was no time for the cakes to get cold.

In addition, Samobor is famous for Bermet, a unique flavoured wine which is served as aperitif. Although there is an opinion that Bermet comes from France, from the time when Napoleon's soldiers were passing through this area, that is not true.

• 16:30 – departure from Zagreb (meteorological display / Zrinjevac sqare)
• 16:30 – 17:00 – journey to the city of Samobor
• 17:00 – 19:30 – sightseeing, tasting Bermet, ''kremšnita'' cake and free time
• 19:30 – 20:00 – journey back to Zagreb
• duration: approx. 3,5 hours.
